The mountain of Democratic political campaign mistakes

The Democrats are fielding a huge group of candidates with no real campaign logic or strategy. Lurching from one extreme proposal to the next, each candidate is trying desperately to attract media attention and primary votes from their far-left “base,” but giving up a tremendous amount of middle ground to President Trump in the 2020 general election.

Blue state tax shock syndrome

Many taxpayers, almost exclusively in blue states, are getting shocked by their tax bills this year and, of course, they’re blaming President Trump and his tax reform. But they are far off the mark.

Democratic candidates: ‘It’s Trump, stupid!’

James Carville, Bill Clinton’s political director, famously said, “It’s the economy, stupid,” in trying to bring laser focus to a winning message. As the Democrats ramp up for the next presidential election, to them, “It’s Trump, stupid!” The president is their one and only issue.

Today’s politicians could learn a thing or two from St. Patrick

So, I’m sipping a Guinness and thinking about today’s politics and St. Patrick’s Day. Everyone knows that St. Patrick was the Irish saint who drove the snakes from Ireland. The problem is … none of that is true. It is purely fake news. He wasn’t Irish at all; he was Roman, Patricus. Who’s painting the country red? Must be Trump

President Trump thinks the Democrats are socialists, or worse, and suddenly it’s a huge irony that states that have gone Democratic are painted blue and those that have gone Republican are painted red. It should be the other way around.

‘New socialism’ won’t move America forward

In his State of the Union message, President Trump felt compelled to assert that we are not — and never will be — a socialist country. Democrats in the room smirked. Many Democrats tout platforms of “social justice,” and some proudly proclaim themselves as socialists.

Trump’s Russia collision … in Venezuela

Some say collusion. Some say collision. While Congress and the White House are playing tit-for-tat over border security and the wall, it’s possible that President Trump may have launched a strategy that will do infinitely more for America’s southern border security and drug interdiction than anything currently conceived of or discussed by Congress and the media.

Building walls to keep out migraines

OK, I admit it. I like to discuss public issues and that seems to give people headaches. Lately I’ve been discussing walls. I like President Trump’s proposed southern border wall and that sends my friends in California digging through their ample supplies of ibuprofen.
