In an act of Olympian Darwinism, America may have created its own “Doomsday Machine.” The wheels and gears of the machine include our health care system, our medical research system, the pharmaceutical industry, the processed-food industry, Big Agriculture, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), our financial services industry, and our entire political system. They all support and finance one another to promote addictive, disease-promoting “food products” to create a sicker America; to “treat” Americans with drugs and “health care” that leads to a sicker America; to protect and defend one another through all legal, marketing and political channels; and to benefit from huge growth and unearned profits.

It was probably one of the weakest, most incoherent State of the Union messages in history. His domestic rivals saw an unconvincing and highly vulnerable target. America’s global allies and enemies likely saw a president who is obviously impaired and, in turn, a vulnerable America.

As the dust settles in Georgia’s runoff election, another poorly chosen Donald Trump-backed candidate went down, and President Biden will feel he has been vindicated and will not change course. And yet, one version of political calculus suggests the Democrats might be better off jettisoning Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as quickly as possible.

The upcoming midterm election has been represented, hyperbolically, as determining the fate of the country and the world for the next generation. Progressives worry that the large spending programs enacted over the past couple of years will have funding restricted by a Republican Congress and die. Conservatives are worried that state power will continue to grow and overspending will fully cripple the economy.

September’s White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health represents a huge opportunity for the country. U.S. spending on health care is enormous, yet Americans are getting sicker and living shorter lives. If the conference achieves its full potential, Americans can be much healthier and live longer lives, and America’s health care costs (and inflation) can be cut by trillions of dollars. The formula is simple — and it’s a test of whether this conference will lead to revolutionary change or turn out to be more political junk food.

Ronald Reagan said the world is divided into the smart and the dumb, the lazy and the energetic, providing eight possible combinations, of which, by far, the most dangerous is the dumb/energetic.

Celebrating Independence Day 2022 conveys a lot of emotional burden for many Americans on all sides of the political spectrum, as they feel their freedom and independent agency eroding at an accelerating pace. Many Americans felt their freedoms taken away by overreaching government during COVID-19. Other Americans felt freedoms of life choices suddenly wrenched away by the reversal of Roe v. Wade. Everyone feels the enormous restrictions on their lives this year brought on by energy restrictions, inflation and a collapsing economy.

The Dark Ages were accompanied by darkness (obviously), cold, poverty, starvation, plague and depredation. The world became smaller and feudal. Infrastructure collapsed. Everyone suffered, but especially the poor. It’s pretty much what the Democrats are doing to America today.
Let’s start with the “Dark New Deal.”

The upcoming midterm elections could represent the most complex political calculus in history. The question is whether a potential Republican majority in the House and Senate, combined with a bloc of pragmatic Democratic senators, might decide to impeach President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Doing so could be the one key to reducing the polarization of American politics and salvaging American civil society.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine places a range of geopolitical strategies and future “maps” into stark relief. It brings into focus the long-range strategies and goals of America’s principal rivals, and makes it more clear than ever that America has no strategic nor long-range global vision.
